Barbara C. Agor, MA, LCPC, DTR
Barbara C. Agor is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor; she earned her Master's Degree in Dance/Movement Therapy (DMT). While pursuing her Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Barbara discovered her ability to connect to challenging youth. For over 13 years, she has worked with youth and families in many capacities where she continued to develop her relational and clinical skills.
Barbara decided to learn more about DMT while she worked as the only clinician in an elementary school of 500 children. As a DMT student, she took on the challenge of working with Juvenile Sex Offenders and Medically Complex youth. She also learned about vicarious trauma, secondary traumatic stress and the toll that trauma work takes on clinicians. This has helped her prioritize self-care in her work. She continued her training with Chronically Mentally Ill adults and ultimately was employed at a day treatment program. Although the work with adults was rewarding she found herself missing the work with children and families. She worked at Maryville Eisenberg Campus with Developmentally Delayed Adolescent girls where the clients have often suffered numerous traumas and have limited capacities to deal with the traumas.
With a strong foundation in Social Work, combined with a specialization in DMT, Barbara brings her unique style of therapy to both youth and adults. She is able to blend both verbal and non-verbal skills to the benefit of each individual client.
